Warm, tropical weather throughout the year

The Whitsundays enjoy a sub-tropical climate just above the Tropic of Capricorn. January is warmest at about 30°C maximum and 25°C minimum; July is coolest at about 23°C maximum and 16°C minimum. Water temperature ranges from 23°C in winter to 28°C in summer. The Great Barrier Reef provides protection, and trade winds are stronger from May to August.
